You can now make mobile insurance payments with this app

India's biggest mobile payments company, Paytm, has always had strong ties to Canada. Its research division has actually been based in downtown Toronto since 2014. But its product had never actually been available to Canadians. Until now.

The FinTech company used the occasion of Toronto mayor John Tory's visit to India to announce its expansion into the Canadian market. Tory made a stop at the company's Noida headquarters where he made the address with CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma. He used the launch as an opportunity to discuss his gratitude for Paytm having chosen Toronto as a development site and express his belief in the mobile product's potential.

“It’s been a great experience to be home to the Paytm Labs team in Toronto since 2014,” said Tory. “Toronto is the city for a company looking to locate in North America with our multisector strength and our exceptional diverse talent pool. With the Canadian app launch, we look forward to Paytm’s success and being an integral part to its growth story globally.”

Paytm's mobile app allows users to make a number of different payments from that platform. It encompasses cellular, cable, internet, utility bills, as well as insurance payments and property taxes.

In addition to its basic bill payment offering, Paytm emphasizes that it will try and go above and beyond for customers. One way it does that is by providing bill reminders 10 days prior to the estimated due date. Another is that it has 100% service assurance, meaning that it won't debit your money until your bill is paid.
