VW Fixes for “DieselGate” Cars by Month End

November 24th, 2015  |  Auto

VW CEO Matthias Mueller announced that Volkswagen will have the technical details for fixing the vehicles equipped with the emissions-falsifying software to German regulators by the end of November.

According to Mueller, most vehicles will only require a software update. The Federal Transport Authority has already given the green light for updates on the 2.0-litre engine.

They also have a “basic go” to provide the update, change an air filter cartridge and replace the grill to fix the problem on 1.6-litre motors as well. Details are still being worked out for the software patch on the 1.2-litre engines.

Mueller says "for about 90 per cent of the group's vehicles in Europe the solutions are confirmed. The cost for the retrofitting is technically, physically and financially manageable."
