Vehicle theft on the rise in Edmonton says report

June 24th, 2016  |  Auto

A new report on vehicular crime during the first quarter of 2016 shows that vehicle theft in Edmonton has increased 21.2% compared to the same time frame last year.

CBC reports that thieves are targeting older models especially trucks. This fits with 2015’s most stolen vehicles in Alberta.

The list is dominated by 2000-2010 Ford F250s and F350s due to their dominant popularity in Canada, outdated security features and utility. If you live in the Edmonton area and own a car it might be worth it to review your vehicle’s security and start utilizing some theft deterrent methods. Not only will it give you peace of mind, it will very likely give you a discount on your auto insurance.
