Ultra-Low Cost Airline Set to Fly Across Canada

January 9th, 2016  |  Canadian Business

Looking for a cheap flight to Kelowna? Winnipeg-based airline, NewLeaf is catering its self-professed ultra-low cost flights to travellers on a budget.

Starting on February 12, Global News says the new airline will begin launching flights to seven Canadian destinations: Abbotsford, Kelowna, Regina, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Hamilton, and Halifax. Although NewLeaf wants to compete with big-league airlines like Air Canada and WestJet, these trips will be departing from smaller airports.

NewLeaf is promising tickets that range between $89 and $149. However, these are no-frills tickets: the cost excludes seat selection, baggage, and meal fees.

Travellers may be intrigued by NewLeaf’s ticket prices, but others will certainly be wary. Even though many of the big name airlines are upping fees this year and flyers are looking for affordable alternatives, low-cost airline models haven’t fared well in the past.
