Uber Offers Kitty Cuddling Delivery Services to Office Workers

October 29th, 2015  |  News

Uber became a temporary kitten cuddle delivery service this Thursday for office workers across Toronto.

In an effort to raise money for cat rescue centres, Uber partnered with local shelters to bring baby kittens to people’s workplaces for some quality cuddling time.

For thirty dollars, people could order up 15 minutes of kitten time and Uber would deliver them right to their door.

A shelter staff member would help with each delivery so if someone happened to fall in love with their fluffy bundle of feline joy, staff could let them know how kitty adoption worked.

Money raised from kitten cuddling will go towards supporting the Annex Cat Rescue, Just Paws Cat Rescue, Team Cat Rescue and the Etobicoke Humane Society.

Uber’s efforts to raise money for local shelters come after a bumpy beginning in the Toronto area.

Their arrival in Ontario’s capital sparked a court challenge between the ride-sharing program, the City of Toronto, and the taxi companies.

A judge ruled that Uber is not operating as a taxi brokerage and, therefore, does not have to adhere to the city’s rules for operating a cab service.
