Uber drivers are pulling a fake puke scam, so check your bills

April 21st, 2016  |  Canadian Business

So it’s late, you’ve been out drinking and you call for an Uber home. You have a great ride, maybe you and your friends are a little rowdy, but you reach your destination without incident and bid your driver a good night. Now do you check your receipt before you head home or do you not even think about it?

The ease of use and hassle-free process of hailing an Uber makes it easy to ignore the possibility of a billing mistake until you actually see the charge on your bank statement. However, a recent string of incidents in the United States show exactly why you should keep a close eye on your Uber receipt and your driver.

While it isn’t a common practice, more than one user has reported that they’ve been falsely hit with cleanup charges for puking in an Uber vehicle despite having a drama-free ride. According to City Pages the company is investigating every contested charge.
