Tree crushes car in Montreal

August 27th, 2016  |  Auto

It may be the end of the week now, but the week started off pretty badly for one car owner in Montreal when a tree crushed their car while it was parked on the street.

The tree, which was located on Hutchinson street in Montreal, began to rot and couldn’t support its own weight.

The tree all but flattened the car parked next to it, causing the street to be shut down for a few hours while crews worked to cut the tree into sections and remove it. Before they did however, a CBC reporter who found the car noticed a piece of paper stuck onto the car’s hood under the windshield wiper. Apparently an enterprising representative for an unidentified insurance company decided to remind the car’s owner that an insurance policy will protect you from the financial loss of your vehicle.

Even more ironically, the reporter found a parking sticker for an arboretum on the windshield, meaning its owner likely spent a lot of time around trees. Maybe this one just wanted a ride to the arboretum. Unfortunately trees and cars rarely mix well.
