Toyota Not Selling Trucks to ISIS Terrorists, US Treasury Investigation Concluded

October 15th, 2015  |  Canadian Business

A rash of ISIS promotional videos showing gun-wielding terrorists in Toyota trucks had the US Treasury asking questions earlier this month.

A recent US Treasury inquiry had counter-terrorist officials asking the car manufacturer about a large number of new Toyota trucks showing up in ISIS propaganda reels all over the internet.

Toyota stated they did not know how the vehicles came into Islamic State’s (ISIS) possession but added they would support any lines of investigation the Terror Financing Unit undertook.

In an ironic twist, US Treasury had only to look next door to the US State Department for their answers.  It came to light in a 2014 article that the department had been supporting the Free Syrian Army by shipping Toyota trucks and SUVs to them.

Unfortunately, the 43 vehicles sent over found their way to the Taliban and eventually, ISIS.

Toyota was cleared of any role by the US Treasury Department.
