Tesla to expand Ontario and Quebec charging network

June 1st, 2016  |  Canadian Business

Your electric vehicle’s road trip range will be getting a little longer this summer as Tesla will add 6 supercharger stations by the end of the season.

The supercharger stations, which provide free charges to Tesla drivers will help expand travel options for drivers in Southern Ontario and Quebec. According to the Financial Post, the first of the six stations opened in Grimsby, ON just a couple of weeks ago. The location opens up worry-free travel between Toronto and Upstate New York. Stations are also coming to Huntsville and Parry Sound in Ontario while Magog, Montreal, and Rivière-du-Loup stations are on the way in Quebec.

The Ontario government has been vocal about its commitment to building electric charging stations. While Tesla only serves one portion of the electric car market, that portion could become the most important in the next few years should the Model 3 sell as many vehicles as were preordered. Having the charging infrastructure in place will go a long way towards making people more comfortable with buying electric cars, and an injection affordable, high-range EVs will only speed up mainstream adoption.
