Ontario driver fees go up today

August 31st, 2016  |  Auto

As part of its effort to properly maintain provincial roads and services, Ontario has slowly but surely been increasing vehicle and licensing fees for several years now. Starting today the cost of validating your vehicle will be $120 in Southern Ontario and $60 in Northern Ontario. Driver’s licences will also cost more now with the fee going up to $90.

This marks the second year in a row fees for licence plate validation and driver’s licences has gone up, but at least there are currently no more changes scheduled to occur in the next two years according to the government of Ontario’s website.

While the increases aren’t huge amounts of money, those fees are part of the expense of owning a vehicle and it’s important to keep an eye on that.
