Jury awards man who lost leg in car accident $46 million

August 13th, 2016  |  Auto

In 2013, Faustino Solorio lost his left leg above the knee after a being hit by a Nissan auto parts delivery truck in southern California. Now, a jury has ruled that Nissan owes him $46 million.

Insurance Journal reported on the surprising result of the lawsuit, saying that the Jury deliberated for less than two hours before finding the local Nissan dealership liable for the damage done to Solorio.

With the loss of his leg, Solorio will require medical care for the rest of his life as well as a prosthetic, which he hasn’t been able to afford. The money will likely go a long way to easing some of the hardships he has had to endure, but many, including Nissan’s lawyer, share the opinion that perhaps $46 million is too much.

Nissan will appeal the amount of their payout, but one can be sure Solorio will be taken care of,
