Insurance companies help impoverished women

August 4th, 2016  |  News

It’s always nice to see a company make an effort to make the world a better place, especially insurance companies, which don’t always get the best reputation for caring about people.

Earlier this week, Economical Insurance along with their broker partner PV&V Insurance donated $10,000 to YWCA Hamilton’s “At the Table” program. The program supports women in poverty by teaching them how to make simple, but healthy foods along with providing a safe social environment for them to network and meet other women working through transitional periods. Beyond the social aspect, the program provides apprenticeship and training for women to find jobs in the food industry.

"We really appreciate the generosity shown to us by Economical Insurance,” said YWCA Hamilton CEO Denise Christopherson, according to InsuranceBusiness.ca. “We hope that through the leadership of PV&V and Economical, others will join YWCA Hamilton in support of 'At the Table' and our 'Kitchen & Café' renovation project."
