Ford recalls 200,000 vehicles with bad transmissions

April 28th, 2016  |  Canadian Business

A problem with speed sensor software can cause some nearly 202,000 Ford trucks, SUVs, and cars to unexpectedly downshift while on the road, prompting the company to issue a North American recall.

CP24 reports the recalled models as:

  • 2011 and 2012 F-150
  • 2012 Expedition
  • 2012 Mustang
  • 2012 Lincoln Navigator

There is a separate recall for 81,000 2014 and 2015 Explorer SUVs for a rear suspension issue.

While there is a large number of affected vehicles, the issues themselves have yet to cause casualties and pale in comparison to the Takata airbag recalls.
