Chevy Volt Named Canadian Green Car of the Year

March 27th, 2016  |  Auto

The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has named Chevy’s newly redesigned plug-in hybrid the Canadian Green Car of the Year at a press conference at the Vancouver International Auto Show.

According to AJAC’s writeup on the awards, the Volt beat out the 2016 Honda Civic and 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid which were also finalists. There were only four vehicles competing for the award, the fourth being the Smart fortwo Coupe. The Tesla Model S nor the Toyota Prius were in the eligible list of vehicles as they had not been entered into the TestFest program in which over 70 auto journalists test drive vehicles for evaluation.

That being said, the Chevrolet Volt has clearly proven itself as one of the best alternative fuel vehicles on the market. If you’re considering buying an electric vehicle but aren’t sure about range or simply don’t have the inclination to buy an expensive Tesla, the 2016 Volt might be your best bet at least for this year.
