Aviva brings ride-sharing coverage to Alberta

August 1st, 2016  |  Auto

One month after the Alberta government unveiled its insurance regulations for ride-sharing, Aviva debuts its personal ride-sharing coverage policy to the province.

When the Alberta approved an insurance policy form for ride-sharing companies, Uber returned to the province with a blanket insurance policy for all of its rides. However, as Uber’s policy belongs to them and not the driver, some drivers might feel better with a personal policy like Aviva’s.

The coverage, which can either be added to your existing policy or included in a new one, will come with the same set of requirements found in the Ontario and Quebec. That means to qualify you will need a minimum of six years driving experience and only ride-share for under 20 hours a week.

Ride-sharing in Canada is a still growing industry and while Uber is the big player in the game right now, this personal coverage is perfect for drivers on multiple services such as TappCar. Talk to a broker (1-855-467-4868) to see if Aviva would be right for you.
