Your financial game plan for the end of the year
“New year. New me.”
You’re going to see many posts like this at the beginning of the year. We all tend to get inspired when it’s a new year or a new beginning. I don’t want you to be one of these people. I want you to finish this year off right.
Let’s see what your financial game plan should be for the end of the year.
Take inventory of how much you owe
Are you in debt? Do you owe any money? To improve your finances, you have to know where you stand first. I know that you’re tired of living paycheck to paycheck or always feeling behind. Tally up your debts to see what it’s going to cost you to get yourself out of this situation.
Run the numbers
I love to run the numbers. Use the next few weeks to run the numbers to see how you can improve your finances. Add up your debt to see how much you owe. Figure out how much you would have to set aside every week to go on that dream vacation next year. I love playing around with a calculator. You’ll be pleasantly surprised by how quickly $20 can add up when set aside on a weekly basis.
Find a successful friend to connect with
Do you have any friends that you want to learn from? Have you noticed that a buddy of yours has been really successful at something that you want to know more about? Shoot them a message and offer to make plans. Everyone’s feeling social during the holiday season and it’s the best time to reconnect with friends and family.
Start thinking of how you can make more money
The best way to improve your finances is to make more money. The more you make the more you save. The more you save, the quicker you can address your debt.
What could you do for more money in 2017? Your common options are:
- Ask for a raise
- Find a part-time job
- Sell your stuff
- Start a business
- Start freelancing
The trick is to narrow down your options. Choose one of these options and see it through until you get your desired result.
Buy gifts ahead of time
If you’re looking to buy Christmas gifts, don’t forget to get your shopping done in advance. You don’t want to be stuck in line on Christmas Eve. You’re going to waste time and money by putting this off.
Pick your events in advance
Where will you be celebrating this holiday season? Do you know yet? Try to make your plans now so that you don’t get stuck paying more. The costs always go up closer to the date. I purchased my ticket for a New Years Eve party in November to get the early bird specials.
That’s your financial game plan for the end of the year. Don’t forget to spend time with your close ones this holiday season.
