Why getting auto insurance quotes should be your New Year's resolution

December 21st, 2017  |  Auto Insurance

It’s that time of year we start making pledges to ourselves. Some of us may want to spend more time with our elderly parents, others might want to get in better shape. Some want to finish up a reading list, while others may have financial goals in mind.

For those of us in that latter group, looking for a new insurance policy is a great place to start. Because while cutting out a drink from Starbucks now and again will help make you richer, finding a better price on your auto insurance takes about five minutes and doesn’t require you to give up anything at all.

A lot of things change over the course of a year. Maybe you’ve moved, maybe you got married, maybe your daughter whose listed as a secondary driver is off at university and doesn’t use the vehicle any more. Maybe nothing has changed at all, but the prices on auto insurance have dropped.

It’s always a good idea to compare auto insurance quotes. It takes almost no time at all and can net you some serious savings. Worst case scenario is that you find out you already have the best possible idea and go on your merry way.

Even if your auto insurance policy isn’t set to expire for several months, it’s good to keep your eye on your options. That way, when it’s time to renew come June, all you’ll have to do is check your email for the price you were quoted and match it up with the price on the renewal. Sure, it’s possible the quote you obtained has expired, but shifts in the market are rarely so dramatic that the price you see now won’t be similar to what you’ll get a few months down the road.

So if you’re looking for ways to save heading into the new year, keep insurance in mind. It takes about as much time to get a handful of quotes as it does to wrap a present. And while giving a gift can be rewarding, saving a bunch of money on auto insurance isn’t so bad itself.
