What to carry with you in your carry-on luggage

April 30th, 2013  |  Insurance

We’ve all seen it at the airport before – that person that has seemingly been living under a rock and has no idea that there are restrictions as to what you can take with you in your carry-on bag. This only creates longer lines and wait times in airports. Restrictions for carry-on luggage are made for a reason – to keep everyone safe.

Planning what you will be packing is part of getting ready for any trip. You need to figure out the things that you will need for your upcoming trip and part of this decision is what to bring with you on your carry-on luggage and what you need to pack into your suitcase.

Here are some tips when thinking about what to carry with you in your carry-on bag:

  1. Check airport restrictions: Make sure you are up to date on the rules of carry-on luggage.  They are ever changing and you need to know what restrictions exist and pack accordingly.
  2. Pack important documents: It is important to keep all of your important documents with you in your carry-on bag. This includes travel documents, hotel confirmation numbers and any other paperwork that you may need to access quickly.
  3. Pack a change of clothes: While you can always get a new toothbrush, hair brush, or stick of deodorant if your luggage is lost, clothing is a different story. This is why it’s important to have a change of clothes packed in your carry-on.

What do you carry with you in your carry-on bag? Why?
