Top 5 Christmas Light Displays Across Canada

December 24th, 2015  |  Insurance

The festive season is here and with it, come all the colourful light displays that make this time of year one of the prettiest around. Canada’s cold and snowy winters are the perfect backdrop for hot cocoa and Christmas light-gazing.

Here are the top five Christmas light displays across the country:

Winter Festival of Lights

November 21, 2015 to January 31, 2016

Niagara Falls comes to light with over 3 million tree lights and 120 animated displays. The shifting colours of the falls, the fireworks show every Friday, and the many Christmas-themed exhibits make this one of the most memorable displays in the country.

Calgary ZooLights

November 27, 2015 to January 2, 2016

The Calgary Zoo lights up the night with their Zoo-themed displays, bringing lions, tigers, and bears to sparkling life. The famed Tunnel of Love and Candy Cane Lane will be back this year, along with SantaVision and other child friendly activities.

Toronto’s Christmas Market

November 20, 2015 to December 20, 2015

The Distillery District hosts Toronto’s Christmas Market, an open air market with musical entertainment, a 45 foot Christmas tree, holiday light displays and décor. People are free to wander, stopping by the beer and mulled wine gardens and browsing the different stalls.

Telus Fire on Ice in Montreal

December 15, 2015 to January 15, 2015

This magical event will light up Montreal’s winter skies for four Saturdays in December and January. From the Old Port of Montreal, the fireworks display set to music will wow crowds with pyrotechnic flashes of colours and shapes. Definitely shouldn’t be missed!

Van Dusen Botanical Gardens

December 1 to 31, 2015

Experience the Festival of Lights illuminating Vancouver’s Van Dusen Botanical Gardens this year. Guests are free to wander through the park decorated with over one million lights, and enjoy a “dancing” lights show on the lake, local choir concerts, and the Candy Cane Express model train.

Christmas lights are one of the best things about winter – they can make even the darkest corner come to life with colour and cheer. When you are decorating your home, make sure that you keep you and your home safe this holiday season so you can enjoy the festivities with peace of mind.
