Tips for Driving on Christmas Day

December 17th, 2013  |  Insurance

Driving on Christmas day is something that most people do every year. Once the gifts are unwrapped, many families pile into the car to visit family and friends. While most people are excited about the gifts they got for Christmas and looking forward to Christmas dinner, you still need to mindful of driving.

Here are some tips for driving on Christmas day:

    • Focus on the road. It is very easy to get distracted by other things on Christmas. There is a lot going on and your mind can wander. Put an extra effort into focusing on driving safely.
    • Avoid impairing your vision. Packing the whole in the car, along with gifts, and other things can often impair your vision. Pack your vehicle in a safe way and make sure you do not block the rear window.
    • Plan your trips in advance: It’s not uncommon for people to have a few drinks. Before you start drinking, make you have a plan to get home and assign a designated driver for the day.
    • Give yourself time to travel: People tend to be in a hurry on Christmas. They want to spend as little time as possible on the road and are eager to see family. Slow down and give yourself ample time to travel. Rushing could lead to a spin out or even an accident, especially if the roads are bad.

No one wants to have car or driving issues on Christmas. Put an extra effort into being a safe driver this Christmas and throughout the holiday season.

Do you drive on Christmas day? What tips can you offer to other drivers that will be on the roads this Christmas?
