Things to carry with you on a trip when flying

July 19th, 2012  |  Travel Insurance

With heightened restrictions on what you can and cannot take with you on a plane while travelling, people need to make a decision about what they will take with them in their carry-on bag. And, depending on how long you are in the air for, it can be a tough decision. Do you take more entertainment items at the expense of more functional items?

Here are some things that you should consider carrying with you when travelling.

  • Travel documents: Always keep all of your travel documents with you at all time. You never know when you will need them. Also, keep contact numbers, accommodation confirmations, addresses, travel insurance and directions with you.

  • Money: Always keep you money with you when travelling. You never know when your luggage could get lost and the last thing you want is to be without money.

  • Valuables: Keep all jewelry and other treasured items with you on your carry on.

  • Clothing: Many people travel with a change of clothes just in case their luggage gets lost.

  • Medication: If you have a medical condition then you need to keep your meds close just to be safe.

  • Entertainment items: Don’t forget to bring some entertainment for the flight. Bring a book, portable DVD player, or iPod will give you something to do to pass the time.

  • Toiletries: When traveling with toiletries in your carry-on bag make sure you follow all air travel guidelines or you will not be allowed to take them on the plane.
