Schools out! Ways to keep your kids occupied this summer
As the Canada Day long weekend is upon us it signals the end of another school year. Children across the country are looking forward to a fun and exciting summer and parents everywhere are frantically thinking of ways to occupy their children during the summer months.
The last thing you want to hear from your kids is “I’m bored” in the first week of summer holidays. Here are some things that your kids could do to pass the time this summer:
Take a summer course: While your kids probably won’t go for this option, taking a summer course is a great way to kill time and get ahead at the same time.
Volunteer:There is no shortage of volunteer opportunities for people of all ages and abilities. Find a cause or pastime you are interested in and inquire about a volunteer position.
Get a summer job: If you children are old enough, getting a summer job is a great way to build skills, put something on their resume, and put some money in their pocket.
Take a driver training course: The summer is a great time for teens with their G1 to take driver training.
Go to camp: There are many types of day camps that kids of all ages can participate in. From sports camps to crafts, camping, and just about anything else, there is definitely a camp for everyone.
Get a gym membership: Getting a gym membership is a great way for your children, especially your teens, to occupy their time and stay in shape. And, the good news is that Goodlife Fitness offers students a free summer membership.
Take lessons: Learning how to play an instrument, taking swimming lessons, or learning a new skill is a great way to spend the summer.
Join a sports team: The summer is a great time to get outdoors and play a sport. From Soccer, to baseball, swimming, and any other sport, it is a great pastime.
