Its Real Estate Season – Is Your Home Insurance in Order?

March 9th, 2014  |  Home Insurance

Across the country real estate agents and homeowners are about to kick everything into high gear as the busiest time of the year for real estate approaches. Traditionally the spring and summer months are the most popular time of the year to buy or sell real estate and this year will be no different.

Having a Plan is Essential

Whether you are buying or selling, it is important that you have a plan. Talk with your real estate agent, mortgage broker, the bank, and your lawyer to get advice and tips about your best course of action. The more information you have about the buying/selling process, the better decision you will be able to make. This will help you formulate a plan that will help you achieve your real estate goals.

Don’t Forget About Home Insurance

Is your home insurance in order? Home insurance is one of those things that can get easily overlooked, especially during the hustle and bustle of moving. However, whether you are buying, selling, or doing both this year, it is the perfect opportunity to review your home insurance policy.

Give your insurance broker a call to not only update them about your move, but to also review your current policy. What should you review?

  • Make sure all your information is accurate and up to date
  • Inquire about the differences in your new home compared to your previous home
  • Make sure that you have an appropriate level of coverage, given your home size and location
  • Get a quote to see if you qualify for a lower home insurance rate –HUB Insurance Hunter can help out here(hint, hint!)

This is also relevant for renters as well if they are moving. Check out your tenant insurance and get a quote and review your policy.

Are you buying or selling this year? How prepared are you for the change of address? Do you plan on getting a home insurance quote when you move?
