It’s Real Estate Season – 5 Tips for Selling your Home

July 1st, 2013  |  Insurance

There is no doubt that the summer is real estate season, especially when it comes to home sales in residential areas. If you are planning on listing your home this summer it is important that you do everything you can to make your home attractive to prospective buyers. You also want to take the necessary steps to get the most value out of your home when you sell.

Here are some tips that every homeowner should follow if you plan on selling:

  1. Set a realistic price: It is very important that you set a price that is fair market value. If the asking price is too high, you could lose potential buyers before they even come see the house.
  2. Get advice from a professional: Even if you do not plan on using a real estate agent to sell your home, it is still a good idea to get some advice from a professional.
  3. Consider staging: Staging is always a good idea, especially if you are having difficulty selling your home initially. If you are not sure how to stage your home, you could also hire a professional stager.
  4. Get rid of the clutter: Less is more when showing your home. Remove the clutter from any room that is busy. You want to create the allusion of your home having more space.
  5. Get the outside in order: Cleaning up the backyard, making sure the plants and bushes are trimmed and the grass is cut is very important and will help make a good first impression.

Are you selling your home this summer? What tips can you offer to other homeowners in your situation?
