Insurance Tips for Travelers

September 3rd, 2011  |  Travel Insurance

There is no denying that everyone loves to travel. But, how many travellers are taking a risk by travelling outside of their homeland without travel insurance in place. Even if you are only going away for a few days, you should get travel insurance. You never know when something could happen and having insurance will ensure you are prepared for it.

Here are some tips for travellers looking into getting travel insurance for their next adventure or business trip:

  • Make sure it is in place before you leave: Having all of your travel documents, including your travel insurance, in place before you leave will ensure you are protected. Never assume your coverage is confirmed.

  • Make sure you know what your policy covers: The last thing you want is to travel abroad thinking that you are covered when you actually are not.

  • Carry a paper copy with you on your trip: Even though you have the confirmation email in your inbox, it is a good idea to also have a paper copy of your coverage. You might not have access to your email.

  • Have the contact info for your insurer: Keep your insurers contact information with you at all times. This will give you quick access to your insurer. Program it into your phone before you leave for your trip.
