Car Insurance Myths this holiday season | HUB Insurance Hunter Blog

September 26th, 2011  |  Insurance

With so much written about car insurance online, there is bound to be a lot of misinformation published. As a result, there are many car insurance myths that exist that need to be dispelled.

With the holiday season is full swing, HUB Insurance Hunter has put together a list of holiday season car insurance myths that need to be put to rest for good. Some of the most common car insurance myths for this time of the year include:

  • You don’t need to have insurance on your car if storing it for the winter: You need to have a least comprehensive coverage when storing your vehicle during the winter. Many insurers offer a winter storage policy.
  • Damage caused to my vehicle by winter weather is always covered by my auto insurance policy: This is not necessarily true as there could be certain types of damage that may not be covered.
  • If poor road conditions are to blame for my accident, my rates will not go up as a result: Not true – your rates could go up after any type of accident.
  • A discount for having winter tires doesn’t exist: Actually, many car insurance companies do offer a discount for drivers that have winter tires.

It is important to talk to your insurance broker if you have any questions about car insurance. Ensuring you are clear about your coverage can eliminate misunderstanding and dispel myths.
