If you need a break, taking a trip is perfect for getting way during fall. Some people prefer to travel in the summer, but popular destinations are full of hot temperatures and lots of tourists in July and August. Travelling in the fall is much more comfortable and less crowded. Even though temperatures are lower, they are still pleasant enough that you and your family can spend quality time outside.

There is something for everyone when it comes to choosing the best travel destination for a fall break. Whether you want to stay local and take a road trip, board a train, or jet-set off to an international location, these travel destinations are perfect places to visit in the fall:

San Diego, California

If you want sun and sand for your fall destination, head to San Diego. It’s located on the Pacific coast of Southern California and is best known for its beaches and warm climate. If you’re from the colder East Coast where people spend most of their time indoors, sunny California offers a variety of outdoor activities such as the beautiful Balboa Park. Other popular tourist attractions include SeaWorld, the USS Midway Museum, and the San Diego Zoo.

Vancouver, British Columbia

If you want to keep it Canadian for your fall travel destination, consider a trip to the West Coast. Vancouver is one of Canada’s larger cities with a population of over 600,000 people. The seaport city is surrounded by parks and mountains which makes it a popular destination for outdoor activities. Plus, Vancouver is a culturally diverse city. Popular family activities include visiting Stanley Park, the Capilano Suspension Bridge (if you don’t mind heights), and the Vancouver Aquarium.

Paris, France

Although the capital of France is beautiful any time of the year, it’s especially nice to visit in the fall. The temperatures are mild, which is good for walking around the city and discovering all the cultural and culinary places it has to offer. While you’re in town, be sure to visit popular landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Notre-Dame cathedral as well as the Arc de Triomphe and the Louvre.

Nashville, Tennessee

Nashville is the capital of the U.S. state of Tennessee. If you love country music, Nashville is the place for your fall travel. It’s home to country music stars such as Carrie Underwood, and it’s packed with legendary bars and music halls. Popular country music venues include the Grand Ole Opry House and the historic Ryman Auditorium. The Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum are also some of the most popular tourist spots.

Myrtle Beach, South Carolina

Myrtle Beach is a popular vacation destination on South Carolina’s coast. It has over 60-miles of beaches and is known for its beautiful golf courses. The old-fashioned Family Kingdom Amusement Park can be found on the Myrtle Beach beachfront boardwalk along with arcades, souvenir stands, and several restaurants. The Sky Wheel is also a very popular attraction as it’s one of the country’s tallest Ferris wheels.
