Are you ready for the First Snow Fall? 3 Tips for Alberta Drivers

October 27th, 2013  |  Insurance

With the temperature taking a dip, it won’t be long before the snow comes. This means that drivers need to start preparing their vehicles now for the first snow fall, especially if you live in certain areas of Alberta where it tends to snow earlier in the year than in other provinces in Canada.

Getting caught off guard when the snow comes is not a situation that you want to be in. Every year people get caught away from home being ill prepared to drive in the snow. Here are 3 tips to prepare for winter driving in Alberta:

  1. Install your winter tires: Getting your winter tires installed now, as opposed to waiting until it snows can eliminate a lot of potential issues, especially when it comes to booking an appointment to get your tires installed.
  2. Put your winter supplies in the truck: Make sure that you put your snow brush, gloves, and winter emergency kit in the trunk. The last thing that you want to happen is for you to get stuck only to realize that your winter supplies are at home in the garage. Also, don’t forget to pick up a couple jugs of washer fluid.
  3. Take your car in for winterization services: Having your car checked to make sure everything is ready to go for the winter driving season is important. Ensuring your wipers, tires, oil, and anti-freeze are ready is important and something that you should not overlook.

Are you ready for the winter driving season? Or, are you one of those drivers that often gets caught off guard by the first snow fall of the season?
