7 quick tips for things to see in Canada this summer

May 24th, 2017  |  Travel

Have you been thinking about traveling across Canada? With the way the Canadian dollar is going these days, it’s a much more affordable option to stay within the country than to go abroad. There are countless sights to see in our vast country, and settling on a destination requires a fair bit of scrutiny.

Here is a list of seven popular destinations you can use as a springboard for deciding on your prefered location this summer.

1. Calgary Stampede

This ten-day event every July is on my bucket list.

According to Touropia“The Stampede has grown over the years, today attracting the best cowboys in the world who compete for $2 million in prize money.”

Everyone in Western Canada looks forward to this event all year. You need to start planning in advance if you want to fly in for the occasion.

2. Moraine Lake (Banff National Park)

The scenery here is simply beautiful. You’ve likely seen this background in a social media picture somewhere. It's an amazing place that combines the convenience and quaintness of of cottage country with the rugged, primative backdrop of sky-kissed mountains.

3. Niagara Falls

Everyone has heard of this tourist attraction. I’ve actually been here many times. You can spend time with your family during the day as you check out the waterfalls and then go for dinner at nighttime. There’s no shortage of things to do in this area - it has great restaurants, lots of fun tourist attractions, a couple nearby casinos and, of course, the Falls themselves.

4. Bay of Fundy

This attraction gives you a great reason to visit the Atlantic coast. This location is popular for its high tidal range and incredible coastal landscapes. It may not be as well-known as Niagara Falls, but it's certainly an experience.

5. Athabasca Falls

This popular destination will also give you an excuse to visit Jasper National Park. You can rent a car and drive around to see what the province of Alberta has to offer. Like Banff, much of the appeal comes from the beautiful natural aspect offered by the surroundings.

6. CN Tower

This will give you a chance to visit Toronto. You can take the elevator up to enjoy the view or you can even take the stairs if you’re in the mood for some exercise. The view from here is breathtaking, and if you're a thrill-seeking, you can partake in the sky-walk that allows you to hang over the edge while attached to a cable.

7.  Old Quebec (Vieux-Quebec)

Planetware writes the following“The Lower Town, along the St. Lawrence River, is the site of the original settlement and home to the outstanding Château Frontenac, as well as numerous other treasures.”

Visiting will give you a chance to brush up on your French while taking in a city that feels like it's been transplanted directly from Europe.

Those are seven popular tourist attractions in Canada. It’s time to do some research so that you can start planning your next Canadian trip.
