7 Fun and Exciting Ways to Spend Canada Day This Year

June 29th, 2014  |  Insurance

Can you believe that Canada Day is almost here?! Have you made plans yet for this year? Even though the holiday falls on a Tuesday this year, there will be plenty of events and things to do when July 1st rolls around. From coast to coast Canadians across the country will celebrate Canada’s birthday in a variety of ways.

Here are some great ways to spend Canada’s birthday this year:

  1. Canada Day BBQ: Many Canadians use the Canada Day holiday to have a fun and relaxing BBQ with family and friends each year. Grill up some of your favorites and spend the day relaxing in the sun.
  2. Check out the fireworks: Canada Day is not complete without fireworks, right? Whether you are going to a large fireworks display in your community of setting off a small display of your own, it’s a great way to cap off the day.
  3. A day at the beach: A day off during the summer means one thing for many Canadians, a day at the beach – and there is no shortage of great beaches to visit no matter where you live.
  4. An extra-long weekend at the cottage: With Canada Day falling on a Tuesday this year, why not take Monday as a vacation day and spend Canada Day at the cottage as part of an extended long weekend.
  5. The CHIN International Picnic/Canada’s Wonderland: This annual event, which is held yearly at the Exhibition Place, is the perfect place to celebrate Canada Day, do some shopping, have some great food and enjoy the midway rides and entertainment. Spending the day at Canada’s Wonderland is also a great option for the entire family.
  6. Head to the nation’s capital: One of the best places to ring in Canada Day is in Ottawa at Queens Park. Perhaps the biggest celebration in the country, the south lawn at Queens Park is filled with fun for the entire family.
  7. Niagara Falls day trip: Another great place to celebrate Canada Day is Niagara Falls. Yearly events down by the falls are held, along with a great fireworks display over the falls. It’s a must see if you have never been.

Do you have plans for Canada Day? What are you planning on doing this year? Do you have an annual event?
