September 22nd, 2014  |  Auto Insurance

A lot of people consider fall to be their favourite time of the year. There is something about the start of the school year, the change in season and getting back to business as usual that people love about September and the fall season. It is also a great time of the year to take a day trip in Ontario. There are so many great places to visit and fall events to experience.

Here are 6 great ideas for day trips:

   1.  Drive through the country side

No matter where you live in Ontario, you are not too far from the country side. Even if you have nowhere in particular to go, taking a drive down the back roads and watching the leaves change is a fun way to spend the day. You never know what you will find when driving down the roads less travelled.

   2.  Pumpkin patch

Halloween is not that far away, so why not plan a trip to the pumpkin patch in the next few weeks to find the perfect pumpkin to carve? It’s the perfect idea for a family road trip.

   3.  Apple picking

Who’s up for some apple picking? It’s the perfect fall activity for the entire family. Plus, you can get the perfect crop of apples to bake homemade apple pies – making this trip a winning proposition.

   4.  A trip to wine country

A day trip down to the Niagara region is a great way to enjoy a fall day. With the Niagara Wine Festival set to take place in the coming weeks, it’s the perfect time of the year to make the drive up and try some of the best wine that Ontario has to offer.

   5.  Niagara Escarpment

While you are down in wine country, why not extend your trip and visit the Niagara Escarpment taking in the wonderful hillside of trees as you make your way through St Catherine’s, Niagara on the Lake and the surrounding area.

   6.  Head North to Collingwood

There is no doubt that heading north is one your best options if you want to take in some beautiful views of autumn foliage. If you love fall scenery, this is the perfect day trip for you.

Do you have any fall day trip traditions? Are you planning a day road trip in the coming weeks? What places do you enjoy visiting during the fall season?
