5 Unconventional Ways to Winter-proof your Car
Waking up on a cold winter morning is not something many people look forward to. Most of us would much rather hit the snooze button and stay in bed.
Getting out of bed is often the hard part. But once our feet hit the floor we start to think that it’s not so bad of a day after all. It’s only a little cold weather. We’re Canadian. We deal with it all the time.
Then we look out the window only to see it snowed overnight….again!
If you don’t have a garage or covered parking, this means you are faced with another morning of scraping your car’s windshield, brushing off snow, frozen car doors, and foggy windows. Did we mention the slow commute and less than desirable road conditions?
Enough is enough. It’s time to do something about this. Want to stop fighting the never ending battle of winter weather car issues?
Try these unconventional methods to winter proof your car:
Tired of scraping the ice off your windows in the morning?
Use vinegar to ice proof your windows.Just use a spray bottle with three quarters vinegar and one quarter water and spray it on your windows at night. This prevents ice from forming on your windows, and will save you time in the morning.
Are foggy windows in the morning making it difficult for you to see?
Try shaving cream!Just wipe a little on the interior side of your windshield and wipe off with a paper towel and your issue should be cleared up.
Do your car doors have a tendency to freeze shut?
Cooking spray is the solution for this issue.Simply spray on the rubber seals around the car doors and you should have no more issues with doors freezing shut.
Are your squeaky windshield wipers driving you crazy?
Prevent squeaky and streaky windshield wipers by wiping them with rubbing alcohol. This will eliminate the build-up of dirt and grime on your wipes, allowing them to be flush with your windshield.
Does your car get stuck in the snow often?
Rubber floor mats can solve this problem.Just turn off your car, take out the rubber floor mats and place them under the tires you are having issues with. This will give you the grip you need to get unstuck and get on with your day.
