Once you have children, car seats become a big part of your travel plans. Regardless of how, when, and where you are travelling you need to make sure that you have a car seat for your children that that it is properly secured.

Here are 4 great tips for travelling with car seats:

  • Make sure it is properly installed each time:This should be a no-brainer – each and every time that you move the car seat and install it, you need to make sure that it is properly installed. Taking that extra minute to check it twice can make all the difference when it comes to protecting your kids.
  • Bring your own if driving:If you are planning on taking a road trip, even if you are rental a vehicle, it is a good idea to bring your own car seat. This way you won’t have to worry about figuring out how to properly install it, plus your children will be more comfortable in the car seat hey are used to travelling in.
  • Know the rules at airports:Travelling with cars seats by air can be an interesting experience. To avoid any potential issues with your car seat and the airline, call ahead and inquire about their policy for the use of car seats on their airplanes. It is also a good idea to check with the airport about any security rules that may be in place.
  • Check it at the gate:If you plan on checking your car seat before you fly, do it at the gate. This will reduce the risk of it getting knocked around and damaged as it makes its way through the baggage claim. And, it reduces the chances of it getting lost in transit as well.
