Car makers are working hard to create the next big thing in car technology. One huge success can result in millions of dollars in revenue and millions of vehicles sold. Naturally, in an era where the focus is always on technology, automakers are working around the clock to add new technology to their vehicles—technology that is meant to make cars easier to drive and safer for passengers.

However, even though people want all the high-tech gadgets, many of the same people are increasingly dissatisfied with how the technology actually works. Auto makers are always in a rush to introduce new things, and consumers have increasingly high expectations of what technology should be installed and how it should work.

As outlined in the New York Daily News, “According to the latest J.D. Power Multimedia Quality and Satisfaction study, people want high-tech features in their new cars, trucks, and SUVs, but at the same time they are increasingly dissatisfied with how the technology works.”

What are the tech trends for vehicles in 2015?

Expect an expansion of existing technology to make driving easier and safer. Here are some of the areas where you can expect new features to be introduced in 2015:

Expect more vehicle models to add lane change assist features. The technology signals when other vehicles are quickly approaching, ensuring you can safely change lanes.

  2.  More Parking Assistance

Companies are investing heavily in parking-related technology. Companies are investing heavily in parking-related technology such as autonomous parking, whereby cameras and sensors can steer the vehicle into an available parking spot, parking entirely for you. There are even apps you can use to find open parking spots.

  3.  Wi-Fi Hotspots

Expect more vehicles to also be Wi-Fi hotspots, coming equipped with 4G LTE Internet connection. You will have the ability to connect various mobile devices and use them as if you were connected at home. However, expect to be required to pay for a data plan.

  4.  Smartphone integration

It’s no surprise that automakers are making it easier for you to connect to your vehicle and the cars infotainment system using your smartphone, including a more comprehensive in-dash screen to display your smartphone features.

Each time new vehicle technology is introduced, it’s important to think about it not only in terms of convenience, but also in terms of road safety and its overall impact on driving.
