3 Important Driving Decision you will be faced with this Christmas Season

December 20th, 2012  |  Insurance

The Christmas season is definitely one of the busiest of the year. With so much going on people tend to be out and about more often. This often leads to more frequent trips and more people on the road during all hours of the day. Because of this, drivers need to pay extra attention and be more focused when they are behind the wheel.

There is lots of temptation for drivers during the holiday season and it is up to you to decide whether you are going to be a naughty or nice driver this holiday season.

Here are 3 very important decisions that you will likely be faced with:

  1. The weather is bad, should I still go out or stay home? Part of being a safe driver is taking the time to understand when to stay home when the weather is bad and when the roads are in poor condition. Don’t drive if you don’t need to and stay home until the roads are clear.
  2. I am waiting for a call; do I pick up the phone? With so much going on, the odds are that you will be making and receiving more calls during the holidays. This doesn’t mean that you should answer phone calls or text messages when you are driving. Minimize your distractions. Keep in mind that there are more cars and people on the road, so you need to pay extra attention to the road and your surroundings.
  3. I’ve only had a couple drinks, am I okay to drive? This is a question that many drivers will be faced with this holiday season. The answer is simple. If you plan on drinking, leave the car at home. This will take away the possibility of you getting behind the wheel when you shouldn’t be driving. It’s never worth the risk. Don’t drink and drive.

As a driver, you will be faced with important decisions. Making the right decision is often the difference between getting home safe and putting yourself in a situation that you will regret.
