10 Travel Resolutions Everyone Should Make in 2015
Are you a good traveller? Some of us are, some of us aren’t, but we could all probably stand to be better or at least do some things differently. With a new year of travel in front of us, perhaps it’s time to take a new approach to create new travel experiences.
Here are 10 travel resolutions everyone should make to enhance their travel experience in 2015:
- Give yourself enough time: Always seem to be running late or in a rush when travelling? Make 2015 the year where you actually give yourself ample time to get through the airport or drive to your destination.
- Pack light: Why do we have a tendency to pack way too much stuff? Why do we punish ourselves by lugging around heavy suitcases when we don’t need to? Let’s pack light this year!
- Forgo the norm. Go somewhere new: Vacation in the same place every year? Go to a new place this year and experience something new.
- Unplug: One of the main reasons why people travel is to get away from things. However, technology now has us more connected than ever. To get the most out of your trip, try unplugging completely.
- Embrace new cultures: Part of the reason we travel is to experience something new. Use the opportunity to experience the culture in the area you are visiting.
- Eat local: Broaden your horizons and eat local when you are travelling away from home. You never know, you might just find your new favorite dish!
- Get off the resort: All-inclusive resorts are very popular. However, it’s difficult to get the full experience if you don’t explore and take day trips off the resort.
- Keep a journal: Ever thought about recording your travel adventures? Consider keeping a travel journal to jot down your experiences.
- Learn a skill from a local: Visiting new countries is an opportunity to learn something new. Talk with locals, embrace their culture and learn a new skill from a local if you have the chance.
- Be nice to the people you encounter: We encounter lots of people when we travel – at the airport, hotels, transportation providers, locals, and many others. Even if you are having a bad day, be nice to everyone you encounter during your trip.
How many of these travel resolutions do you think you can stick with? Do you have other travel resolutions you would like to share? Tell us about them!
