10 Amazing Canadian Fall Vacations, Eh?

October 19th, 2014  |  Travel Insurance

While the fall is not traditionally thought of a popular time to take a vacation, let alone planning a vacation somewhere in Canada, there are actually many great places to visit this time of the year. While most people (especially Canadians) are probably inclined to head south, take a look at the following vacation ideas in Canada before finalizing your travel plans this fall:

  1.  Hockey vacation in Toronto

Hockey season is back in full swing. If you love hockey, making the trip to Toronto to check out a game and check out the Hockey Hall of Fame is a great fall trip.

  2.  Polar bear tour in Hudson Bay

Make the trip to Churchill Manitoba for a true Canadian experience. From wilderness expeditions to polar bear tours, this is a fall adventure that you won’t soon forget – especially if you see a polar bear up close.

  3.  Hiking in the Rocky Mountains

Are you an outdoors type? Always love a new challenge? Hiking the Rocky Mountains is the perfect fall vacation idea for you. You can literally spend hours and hours hiking the trails and taking in all the amazing sites along the way.

  4.  Cross Canada Train Tour

Want to see the best of the best Canada has to offer in one trip? A cross Canadian train tour is a great way to see the country from coast to coast.

  5.  Niagara on the Lake Wine Tour

Fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year to take a wine tour in Ontario, and there is no better place than Niagara on the Lake. Stay at a bed and breakfast, visit all the smaller communities, and even take in a theatre show as part of your tour. Plus you are only a short drive from Niagara Falls. If you are out west, then be sure to check out the Okanagan Wine Festival to try out some of the best wines from BC.

  6.  Fundy Coastal Drive

The East coast is beautiful this time of year and the Fundy Coastal Drive is one of the best vacation options if you are heading east. Watch the leaves change color and experience some of the highest tides in the world, creating a truly unique fall experience. Also consider the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia as an alternative.

  7.  Rideau Canal

Taking a walk along the Rideau Canal during the fall is impressive. The unique Canadian experience and small villages to visit make it an unforgettable experience.

  8.  PEI

Autumn is one of the best times to visit PEI, especially if you to plan a fall foliage road trip. Drive across the island and take in the combination of cliffs, beaches, the sea, and the fall foliage in the area.

  9.  Algonquin Provincial Park

Northern Ontario features one of the most beautiful parks in all of Canada. Plan a hike, canoe the water trails, and take in one of the most colorful regions in the fall.

  10.  Laurentian Mountains

This is the perfect resort town to take in the fall scenery. Plan a hiking or biking trip up the mountain to get up close and personal with nature in the area.
